Solution 1: Adjust the Mounting Position (Try This First)
For most installations, changing the mounting position is the fastest and least expensive solution.

If the lid is difficult to close
Move the installation to a more horizontal position.
This reduces the effective lifting force, making the gas strut easier to compress.
If the lid won’t stay open
Move the installation to a more vertical position.
This increases the lifting leverage and provides stronger support.

Solution 2: Check the Installation Direction
Gas struts should normally be installed with the rod pointing downward when the lid is closed.

Replacing the Gas Struts

Step 1: Remove the Existing Gas Struts
Depending on the connector type:
- Unscrew the brackets if required.
- Release the retaining clip on nylon socket ends with a flat-head screwdriver.
- Remove the gas strut from the ball studs.
Most installations take only a few minutes to remove.

Step 2: Install the New Gas Struts
Install the replacement gas struts using the recommended mounting dimensions.
If the new gas struts have the same extended length, you may be able to reuse the existing mounting holes.
Otherwise, drill new mounting holes according to the supplied installation drawing.
When installing:
- Position the gas struts as vertically as practical for maximum lifting support.
- Always install the rod facing downward.
- Check that both sides are installed symmetrically.
Step 3: Test the Performance
After installation:
✓ The lid should close without excessive force.
