  6. JeffOnTime

my old struts had gotten weak on my truck tool box. I replaced them with these new ones… no issues, works great

  7. Mick

    Snapped right in place!

  9. M.

We purchased this to lift a solid 1/4″ piece of plywood that acts as support for a queen short bed in a travel trailer (it lifts up half of the bed to reveal storage underneath). It works great! The installation was simple once we figured it out. The instructions can be a bit of a challenge to understand at first (At least for me). They have multiple different types of lifts and illustrations on one set of instructions, so just make sure you’re looking at the correct model number when you’re installing it. Also, the instructions are very brief. Either way, I’d totally purchase this again. It was a fair price and the seller shipped it quickly. It came in small enough packaging that I didn’t have to worry about it sitting on my steps for someone to take, too. 4.5 out of 5!

  10. Jason F.

    Excellent product. Works well.

Needed to repair the storage compartments on our boat. These were just what we needed and they worked great. They were priced better than the boat mfg had to offer.

Great product, easy to replace on boat hatches, etc.

  19. David Luman

used on my truck toolbox working good so far.

  20. Melanie Watson

Perfect for the lid on my van pull out drawer. Plenty of power. Easily opens a 60 lb lid.

  21. Justin Gifford

I got these by accident but there good for small projects

  22. Robert Crossley

Great struts, very strong for their size.

  23. Larry Gale

They were easy to install & good quality.

  24. Just_a_Citizen

They worked as promised. I was concerned that they wouldn’t be strong enough to lift a heavy lid. One was too weak but when I added the second of the pair, they were perfect. Myself and my customer were very pleased.

  25. Raul G.

eran justo lo que necesitaba para mi caja de herramienta de la camioneta muy buena calidad y precio

  26. Jeremy Leonard

were easy to install and works wonderful.

  27. netjem

These shocks are the perfect amount of force for a standard truck toolbox.

My specs said 155N of force but these 200N are nice and “snappy”

Good part is, most toolboxes only require 1 shock, and these are a pack of 2

    Super easy install.

  28. Joe

I can open the boxes now

  29. TJH

I bought these to add stiffness to front suspension on an old Honda C70 Passport motorcycle . I haven’t put them on yet , but they seem exactly the right items for the job.

  30. luke

  31. Allan J.

These were so easy to replace, worked just like the originals.

  32. andy

    Just exactly what we needed

  33. Clinton

The 40 psi shock is perfect. I have an aluminum truck box 60″ wide x 17″ deep. I bought the 40 psi version because I also have a roll up bed cover that sits just at the box hinge when the lid is open. I needed the 40 psi to support that weight as well to keep the tool box lid open. The shocks just snap into place.

  34. snowman8wa

Daughter asked for a bakers rack for small kitchen; had scrap materials left and using a RV idea from our “then” 5th wheel, I did a dropdown chopping block with the struts and a piano hinge. she can fold it down when not needed and it pops up and stays in place for working. For something that is heavy I would go with the strongest possible struts for rigidity. Installation was easy.

Apexstone 200N 10 inch steel gas struts for table

  35. MSG Himel Ret

    No problems

  36. Surf

Fit and work perfect on my live well tank. Only had the part on this summer so can’t tell how durable this part is. Cheap and quick replacement for sure.

  37. Betty

Instructions were not helpful for installation. Could have shown some diagrams for the different configurations of use. But they did the job to hold up the lid for a heavy wooden chest.

  38. Georgina

I bought some struts at Lowe’s and they were very weak and couldn’t hold up the cover or top portion of my concealment box. These struts however are very strong. I would recommend these struts for any kind of cabinet or project we’re you need “good, strong” struts.

  39. Steven B.

I was going to purchase 22 pound struts, because my door weights about twenty pounds, and I only wanted to use one strut, and I did not want too much closing resistance. Instead I decided to go with the 45 pound struts, still thinking about using only one strut. Instead I ended up having to use both 45 pound struts just to hold the door up, but it is working just fine without being too hard to close, and not springing up uncontrollably.

  40. Kn

Replaced existing truck tool box lifts.

  41. Vicki Applegate

I Had Not Used or Purchased Shock Struts From E-Bay Before, Had A Guy Say It Really Keeps Things Up, And So I Tried these, Sure Enough, It Keeps Things Up. Glad i Used Them

  42. Justin Huston

    All was ok

  43. Rich B.

    Worked as advertised

  44. Davey d.

I didn’t have instructions, I’d never put those on before, I figured it out quickly

  45. Adam Palkowitsch

Awesome product. Worked perfectly for my custom built window well cover.

  46. Omar

Great products very strong but not good for a tour pack way too strong for my Harley tour pack lid

  47. Diana

Used for a home made cabinet door in the garage. Two of them are more than strong enough to handle the door. Works great!

  48. RabsWife78

    Easy install

  49. Robert Mullins

    Great As advertised

  50. Gear Down

Fit like originals on my WdS tool Fuel box

  51. K. J. K.

    Easy to install.

  52. The W’s

Cheap and strong lift struts to replace my worn UWS truckbox struts. Came with extra hardware for mounting on something new. Only minor annoyance I had was the metal retainer clips kept wanting to rotate when prying it to get over the mounts.

  53. Christopher M. Rush

Used gas stays to help make a heavy linen trunk lid easier to open and to keep it open when raised. One stay was able to do the job but I used two since I had them.

  54. Nick

I needed replacement cylinders for my toolbox in my truck. Found these as possible replacements. Had the old ones off and new ones on in a couple minutes. Very happy now that my lid stays open on my box.

  55. Getch

I gave these shocks four stars because of the simple fact that they don’t have enough power to lift the toolbox lid once I pull the handle. In order to get them to lift right I have to give my kid a boost. It’s kind of a pain especially when your hands are full. Other than that they work great. The hold up the lid like they’re supposed to, but I some how don’t think they will lift 45 pounds like they’re advertised.

  56. RodderFiles

haven’t installed yet as purchased for a custom Application on a VW , the pressure seams strong ill let you know if it actually works for my purpose but that has no reflection on the part itself which works great

  57. Ike wheeler Jr

Very easy to install and they work great

  58. TJ

    Very nice

  59. scott r.

These work great for my chicken coop egg box door. The door was too heavy for my kids to open and hold up to retrieve the eggs. I took a chance and bought these. I am not disappointed! These make the door manageable to open and they hold the door up. The are a great product and we are satisfied!

  60. Bill Harmon

    Easy to install- as advertised.

  61. CarolAnne Tucker

So far so good. These are just what I needed and the price was very reasonable.

  62. Edward Iden

I designed a folding table and added this product for easy lifting to full hight. These worked perfectly. This is a quality product, especially for the cost.

  63. Mike M

Good product. Good value. Holds my rod box lids up on my Skeeter.

  64. Chris R.

Came with instructions that had exact measurements for installation. Works great

  65. DupontDC

I needed this for a project on my camper van to assist in lifting the bed platform. I used one, and it was not enough on its own, but two did the trick. I am not sure it will easily lift 45 lbs as advertised (it seems less to me), but the lift capacity seems to vary greatly according to the angle at which the supports are installed. There is a little art to getting the supports in the best position, but it eventually worked out well for my project.

  66. Robert Coleman

Exactly what I needed. Easy to install

  67. P Reed

Initially purchased 20 lb – not enough. This is the right choice.

  68. Johnathans

Work great and easy to install

    Worked perfectly. Installs easily.

  73. Blue thunder

    Perfect fit

  74. George W. Rohrig

Surprisingly easy to install. Used it for the lid on my garbage can shed.

  75. Josh

These fit on my tool box perfect. Easy to remove the old ones and really easy to put the new ones on.

  76. Sung h an

This was not an exact fit replacement for my truck toolbox. However, it was very easy to drill new holes to fit the extension of these struts. The push on clips are standard, easy to use. Make sure you measure the extended and compressed strut length you need to replace, then look at product details to compare…don’t just type in an application and expect it to be a perfect fit.

  77. Kaley Ivins

So far so good. They have been installed for a couple days. Went on easily and were the perfect size for truck tool box

  78. Frank

    Works as it should

  79. Paul H.

    Truck tool box lid

  80. James Cox

Perfect replacement for Better Built toolbox.

  81. Hub

Way better than I thought they would be I will use them again

  82. Bruce

These fit my toolbox perfectly. Had damaged one of my lifters and just needed one. However, it was so easy to replace that doing both at once was simple. Glad to have two lifters now working together. Seems to be a good value and quality item.

  83. james skinner

Worked great on my small doors for storage on my rv

  84. Z-man

1/10 the price of others, works fine…

  85. Roger Herring

    Worked for my application.

  86. GReed

Quickly able to replace original hydraulic lifts on my garage storage door.

  87. Mousepoogone

Strong..stronger and wish they had more instructions..

  88. John L

    Great fit

  89. Marco

These gas struts really do the job. Jut make sure to have your geometry and weight calculations done well before ordering the needed strut.

  90. Ray Wickert

    good fit , works great

  91. T. Rienstra

Bought to replace weaker ones. Still did not hold weight advertised, but were better than the others.

  92. guywake

    Worked awesome
Same one at o’Reilly was 30$

  93. Robert Price

Used these on compartment lids on my older bass boat. Was easy to install and work great. May order more to replace the others.

  94. Matt & Sarka

  95. ChuckFBG

Only needed to use one of these for a fairly heavy hatch door. It’s a real wrestling-match to install these – which means there’s a lot of guess-work necessary on the proper placements (instructions are unhelpful) – and more wrestling in store if you need to re-position.

  96. Beverly Thorpe

They work like a charm! Great price, easy to install and get the job done.

  97. no1wiser

Strong well made ! work great..

  98. Randym2602

Needed to be a little stronger on the up forse

  99. MomZ4

Worked great for a steamer trunk lid. Good purchase, was quick delivery

  100. Renteria

bought these to replace the ones (SUSPA) on my utility truck and i was a little skeptical since they were so cheap but they get the job done. this little guys are strong. i was looking for the 100lbs force but they were 100 bucks each so i went with this ones instead and they do the same job. pretty happy with them and they came super fast too.

  101. laura

    Worked great perfect replacement

  102. JD

Worked perfect on my better build box!

  103. david h. cockcroft

    Easy to install

  104. jose sadurni

Good overall value for the money. Instructions that came with the product were not clear. I used a Youtube video as reference instead. The clips that secure the strut to the bracket could be challenging to set prior to locking the strut. The struts are working well for my kitchen cabinet application. Durability is pending to be seen.

  105. Roy Epperson

Fast delivery and product was just what I needed

  106. greg palmer

    Fits great

  107. Delfino Villanueva

Le quedó perfecto a mi caja de herramientas fácil de instalar

  109. Rashid Lowther

    worked as advertised

  110. Chris

    fit right, worked great

  111. Austin Cordi

Worked perfect and the price you can’t beat!

  112. Mark B. O’neal

I looked at the struts for my 1995 Eurovan Winnebago Full Camper on GoWesty and BusDepot. I thought the prices were kind of high and I find stuff from Apexstone are great.
The original struts were rated for 40 lbs. These are very close at 45 lbs. Compared to the originals, these struts are slightly shorter when compressed and slightly longer when extended. This just means they are completely compatible.

I installed them in under 10 minutes using the OEM attachment points. They work perfectly. These struts are half of BusDepot and 1/3 to 1/4 the price of GoWesty. A very good value and the quality is great. It lifts like a dream and is also easy to close back down.

  113. John K

Replaced the struts on truck toolbox. Simple and quick to replace, works great

  114. Chris McFerrin

Product fit my UWS tool box perfectly! Easy to install will see how long they last.

  115. jme

    Great product

  116. Ernesto Sanchez

  117. San Tan Irrigation District

Purchased these to replace the shocks on a truck work box that gets used daily. I’d been dealing with the box lid closing on me for months and now with these new shocks I can’t believe I ever used the dumb tool box without these. These shocks are top grade and east to install.

Easy to install a piece of apexstone gas spring and 100% get the job done

  118. John Hoffman

Working good fast shipping will buy again if needed

    Great quality

  121. steven p.

Perfect fix for my truck tool box

  122. Taco

For those of you looking for a strut replacement for your truck/vehicle toolbox, these work great. They went on in a matter of minutes and definitely keep the lid from closing. If fact, almost too much, but I like it that way.

For those of you who don’t know what a strut is, the definition states that a strut is “a rod or bar forming part of a framework and designed to resist compression.” Do NOT look at the “BAD” reviews of the operation of these struts and how “complicated” they are. It’s a simple mechanical tool to help open/close doors, windows, etc. If you do not know how something works, it’s not the products fault and you should probably look up a video. The interwebs have all the knowledge.

Now, I agree that these do not come with instructions, per say. To mount them on an existing assembly like I did, you would take a small flat head screwdriver, or equivalent small tool, and pry the clip out just enough to take the pre-assembled hardware off. If what you’re working on doesn’t have existing ball-hitch style mounts, then you would just use screws, or equivalent hardware, to mount the already assembled strut mounts to whatever it is.

  123. JRA

these worked great on my truck tool box

  124. mervin jack

    great product

  125. Lyman Tomlinson

Used them for my aluminum truck toolbox. Keeps the lid up perfectly.

  126. Ryan bingham

    works like it says

  127. Ronald Trimmer

    No instructions sent

I thought the product was great in general. It didn’t come with the screws necessary to install. The 45lb shocks are very strong maybe I should of gotten the 25lb ones but good product and packaged well. My recommendation is and the screws and the direction.

  129. Hennayee

Great product. No instructions needed. Quick install and done.

  130. Andrew J.

These struts are awesome if you know what you are getting into and highly recommended if you know what you’re doing. As others have stated, they do not come with instructions but every lid is a different size and weight- so standard placement instructions wouldn’t work anyway. I used one on each side of my storage container, the lid weighs approx. 40lbs and these struts have no problem doing the job. If you aren’t handy, hire someone who is or grab a buddy who is and some beers. I’m not being a jerk, just trying to save you some frustration.

  131. Don Hanson

    Fit perfectly

  150. enjoys sunsets

Theses work really well on my motorhome exterior compartment doors, but the door extension is just an inch or 2 shorter then before, it was very easy to change out the old ones and pop these lift supports right on.

  151. Máté H.

    Good quality, fast shipping

  152. vic in GA

I had a blown strut on my truck tool box and was tired of the lid dropping down on my head when I tried to get to my tools. I wanted to replace both of them with new ones. I found these and they fit perfect and work incredibly well. And they were priced well. Original equipment struts were $27 a piece and the Apexstone struts work better in my opinion. I am happy with my purchase.

  153. Donald R.

I bought these to accompany a steel tool box lid on cousins work trailer. The shocks work well and look to be built well.

  154. Jenn Quigley

    Fits great

  155. pete

Got these Mercedes-Benz , has three to lift and hold trunk. Not exact match comes with mounting brackets ? Which didn’t need there a universal part . Seem to work fine . Much cheaper than oem

  168. Vic

awesome struts for the money. I bought for a trunk on a DIY van build and work great. I thought 40+ would be to much for a 40×20 sheet of subfloor that i used for a trunk lid. keeps them open and closed when desired.

  169. Arrdee

    works great.

  170. Mikhail N.

  171. Randal B Irwin

Used on my toolbox. Very strong. Should last a long time.

Needed two new lift supports for my NWS toolbox on my truck. The ball joints fit like a glove, unlike OJ’s. Didn’t need the ball joints that came with them either …..

Arrived right on time, Half the price of local stores Used on single lid pickup tool box , took less time to replace the old struts to the new ones than it did to prop open the lid.. only tool used was a small straight screwdriver. Look for a small notch in the ends, its in line with the rods, gently pry a little to remove the mounts it comes with, just pull them out . it doesn’t take much to open ,so be careful , DON’T take the clips off by trying to slide them up over the ends. . after removing the mounts, put the screwdriver down, line up the holes to the secured mounts ,(the ones on your tool box, or what ever you are doing. and just bump it on with your hand.

Product was as advertised and work very well. no negative feed back on this item and would purchase this item again

I bought this item due to some one saying that it was a good fit to a Case skidsteer. Well…. it went in, and works okay. I mean it holds the rear good but you have to push it all the way back. This is due to it being longer than the original one. It’s about 2-4 inches longer than the original one. You can defined remove the two silver ball bearings and use the ones from the machine. Beats buying the original ones at around $90 bucks each.

Again I would probably not buy them again, but cannot ask more for 2 of them for 15 bucks.

It will work on Case 60xt or other XT skidsteer models BUT it’s not a very appropriate part. I would be 50-50 on reconending you buy it for the skidsteer.

I used these on my dog box lid. They are a little powerful for this application but they work as expected. If I need to replace these in the future I would look for a 40 lb. Excellent price and no tax if purchased through a third party seller.

Solid and will lift a pretty heavy lid

Worked perfectly to open and hold a 15 pound door horizontally. Originally bought the 100N version but they weren’t strong enough. I contacted Apexstone’s customer service, and they sent a pair of replacements thinking they may have been defective, but they wouldn’t lift & hold either. Their CD suggested I try the 200N instead, and I couldn’t be happier. Great product and great customer service!!!

Yep they work on my tool box just fine. But don’t put anything like your face above the lid when you open your tool box or you’ll have a bobo. 45lbs of lift is maybe a little bit much but at 12.99 for two of them, I couldn’t resist. Using both on a 5lb tool box lid, Wow, way to much lift. If you have bad hinges on your tool box and don’t know it, well your about to learn something. I didn’t get anything for this review, I just like the product.

    does the job

I bought this for my Case Skidsteer (Skid Steer) 450 loader, for the hood. It takes one, but I purchased two. The Case part number is 7335700 and they want %80 + tax ! ! !. The number on the gas stur is 400471A1 (400471-A1) (0167). When I was removing the ball-mount, I tried to remove the spring clip DON’T DO THIS – I broke mine. Just pry it out enough to get the ball out of the socket. When installing, just ahve to push the socket onto the ball, no tools required. At $20 I was glad I bought two. I think this fits other Case equipment. I did not buy the other cylinder b/c I think this just mainly holds the hood down, 400472A1.

I ordered these for my dad and he says they are exactly as expected. They work very well and are priced much lower than at the auto store. The only drawback is that they are shipped directly from China so the shipping was as promised but does take quite a while.

I bought this gas strut to replace old, weak gas struts on my pick up cap. It works perfectly and at a fraction of the cost the local auto parts store charges for these types of struts.

    Work as described!

Exactly what I expected. Easy to install and worked perfectly to hold open a heavy cabinet door.

These are great! Arrived the day after I ordered them, and they work perfectly as a lid support for the large bay window bench I built.

Small and strong. Well built. To figure out how much lifting strength you need, place a rod/firm stick at the point of lifting, with a scale under it. The amount of weight pushing down, at the mounting point, is how much lifting strength you need. Don’t just measure at the far edge, as the leverage/strength needed to lift is much higher at the hinge.

  192. jason

    Works as expected so far.

    They work Perfectly
